How To Get Over A Break Up
Break ups are one of the hardest experiences to go through in life. It doesn’t matter if you are dumping them, or if they are breaking up with you, or if you are both breaking up with each other, it’s never going to be easy. There are a couple of things you can do that will make a break up a little bit more bearable though:
1. Remember that you are a wonderful person! Don’t ever forget that you are fantastic, and that there are plenty of people who would love to be with someone as fabulous as you! If you ever start to doubt yourself, take some time and write down 10 reasons why you are a great person. Get a close friend to help if you are stuck for ideas.
2. Know that you will find love again. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that there will ever be another person that makes you feel as wonderful as your girlfriend or boyfriend did. It’s important to try and keep in mind that there will be someone out there who will be even more wonderful than your ex was.
3. Give yourself time. It’s natural to be upset after a break up. Give yourself time to get over the loss, but then move on. It might feel pretty terrible for a while, but once you come to terms with the break up, it’s time to look for someone new.
4. Focus on other things. Sometimes after a break up you need to put energy into something else for a while. Spend time with friends. Take up salsa dancing. Go to the gym. Learn another language. Change your hairstyle. Anything that helps take your mind off it for a little while will give you time to heal.
5. Accept that it’s over. One of the biggest mistakes you can make after a break up is telling yourself that it might not really be over. But it is over. Let it go. Once you accept that that part of your life is in the past, you can start looking towards the future.
6. Meet someone new. Obviously this one is a bit more effort than the others, but it’s definitely the best way to recover from a break up. There is nothing like a new relationship to help you get over the old one. It’s 100% guaranteed.
